Blythe Waltrip

Colvos Passage lies between Gig Harbor and Vashon Island and its strong, predominantly northbound current contrasts to the rest of Puget Sound, which varies with the tide. Colvos College Advisors serves as a guide to help students harness the power of that northbound current and stay on track, pointing at their destination. We provide the “local” knowledge about the college application process so families can navigate what could be a difficult passage with ease and confidence. Our goal for our students to be prepared for life after high school with the skills, tools, and confidence they need for success in a university setting.

About Blythe | Consultant & Founder
Blythe Waltrip worked as a public high school teacher for ten years teaching a variety of AP history and AVID elective courses as well serving as the AVID Program Coordinator at multiple sites. AVID is a national program focused on preparing students from all backgrounds for college. This unique experience gave Blythe the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the college preparation, application, and financial aid processes and allowed her to gain significant experience in guiding students from a multitude of backgrounds.

A graduate of University of California, Santa Cruz, Blythe received her B.A. in European History before attending California State University, Channel Islands where she earned her Social Studies Teaching Credential in Secondary Education. She has also earned her Independent Educational Consulting Certificate from University of California, Irvine.

As an independent educational consultant, Blythe operates as an objective third-party who is passionate about sharing her knowledge. Ultimately, her goal is to assist students and families so they can navigate a complicated process by making thoughtful decisions. She strives to inspire students to take charge of their college-going experience and empower them to make informed decisions about their future in order to prepare for life after high school.
