IECA Spring Conference Highlights: Early Bird Ends this Week

This spring we will seek to Meet Our Challenges as IECA’s Spring Conference heads to the Midwest—Chicago.

We have an exceptional program planned for attendees:

• Three Pre-conference Sessions to choose from: Ethics in the Digital Era; Small Business Success; and training.

• Over 40 Educational Sessions on topics designed to meet the myriad of challenges attendees face.

School/College Fair & Therapeutic Information Swap for IECs to learn about colleges, schools, and programs and for admission reps to connect with independent educational consultants.

• Our conference hub—Conference Central—where all attendees gather to connect with each other, meet with vendors, use the cyber-lounge, and enjoy refreshments and network.

We are delighted to provide four outstanding Keynote Speakers: Laura Schroff, author of An Invisible Thread, IECA Chicago Conference Speakersjoined by Maurice Mazyck who will share one of the most remarkable and inspiring stories you have ever heard. Laura and Maurice rarely appear together so this Friday morning session is not to be missed!

Harlan Cohen, author of The Naked Roommate and The Happiest Kid on Campus will bring his unique talents in discussing how we can help all students adjust to life away from home. Harlan is one of the most sought-after speakers on campuses and he will address our school and college colleagues and IECs on Wednesday.

No one will want to miss actor/director/producer, LeVar Burton, from the TV series Reading Rainbow, Roots, and Star Trek, among others. LeVar is also a leading voice for educational reform, and as our lunch speaker on Thursday, he will examine how the storytelling tradition of the past is alive—and necessary—in today’s high tech society.

The Saturday Master Class, DSM-5: What this Means for Clinicians, Independent Educational Consultants, and Educators, will be presented by Dr. Howard Weeks of the University of Utah-Neuropsychiatric Institute. With a new DSM coming in the next few months, this advanced look at the changes coming will be critical for all those working with adolescents.

And back by popular demand are our peer-to-peer conversations during member Roundtable Discussions for all specialties and Therapeutic Community Discussions between IECs and program staff.

The last day for Early Bird registration rates is Thursday, January 31. You can find the most up-to-the-minute conference information, including speakers, registration, breakout sessions, and events on our Web site at
