First Webinar Explores the Growth in Consulting
The joint IECA/University of California-Irvine webinar attracted well over 100 attendees Monday, and about 70% of attendees were IECA members. Those attending first learned of the planned announcement for a first-in-the-nation university-sponsored certificate program in Independent Educational Consulting. Working closely with IECA, the UC-Irvine program will start in September. Following this announcement I had the pleasure of teaching my first webinar, tracing the social and educational factors that led to the growth in consulting over the last decade and my own predictions of where the field is heading. These include expectations of new methods for delivery of services, increased specialization and overall growth, including the hiring of college consultants by schools and school districts.
We see the success of the webinar as indicating the ability of IECA to reach its members similarly in the years ahead.
An audio recording of the webinar remains available, go to https://uci.webex.com/mw0305l/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=uci and click on “Recorded Sessions” on the left side of the screen. The session will be listed as 2009 Spring Independent Educational Consultant Information Session.
